Daydreams to Reality

January and February are very difficult months for me. I guess I must be a “sunny” day person, because during the coldest months of the year I have had to develop a method of keeping myself out of the Winter doldrums. The method that works best for me is daydreaming. My daydreams consist of warm spring days when the daffodils pop out of the ground, birds chirp cheerfully as they look for twigs and soft bits of lint to place in their nests, and the whole outdoors comes alive. My daydreams actually become reality in the following days after hours of endlessly browsing dozens of catalogs searching for seeds, outdoor statuaries, garden fountains, and birdhouses and my plan is ready for the coming Spring.

During one of my most vivid daydreams I came up with the idea of planning a community for my fine feathered friends. I began collecting a variety of birdhouses to offer on my website that would consist of enough choices to create the most accommodating village a bird could find anywhere. On a first come, first come basis my feather friends can choose from Victorian birdhouses for the old fashioned sparrow, a Hollow log birdhouse for Mrs. Bluebird and her family, maybe the regal Cardinal would prefer the Country Church Birdhouse. Of course, we need to provide Beauty Salon, Gas Station, Train Station and Farmer’s Market Birdhouses for the more glamorous and industrious birds that flock together. Hummingbirds will love the Flower Shop Birdhouse. Do birds take vacations? If they do I don’t want them leaving my garden for the beach atmosphere. Maybe develop a section in the garden that includes Lighthouse birdhouses, Surf Shack Birdhouses, and a Beach Hangout Birdhouse for the sun lovers or a Jackpot City Birdhouse for those who like to take chances.

Just as seeds have to be ordered enough to be planted in early spring after the last frost, birdhouses must be chosen and ordered early enough to give the birds time to discover them and get them ready to start their new family. Another hint is to be a little messy when cleaning up those vines and other dead leftovers from winter to give the birds a head start in finding nest building materials.

When Springtime finally arrives I look forward to early mornings, setting in my glider on the patio, drinking a wonderful cup of hot, steaming coffee, and watching a wide variety of my fine feathered friends bathe in the water of the garden fountains, flit from tree limb to tree limb, feed their tiny offspring, and enjoy their fine homes. As the days go by and my daydreams have become reality I can only appreciate those cold, wintry days when I had time to dream the dream that made all this possible.

Getting to know my customers and sharing ideas and comments with them is one of the greatest rewards of having an e-commerce site. I’m look forward to the continued growth of friends. Thank you for your trust and confidence. It is a pleasure to serve you.
